RAFE July Newsletter: Post-OSH Vibes
We are back from Oshkosh! AirVenture 2026 gave RAFE another opportunity to put Burt Rutan’s aircraft, ideas, and legacy directly in front of the aviation community. Save the Grizzly!
Burt Rutans Model 72 Grizzly is a one of a kind prototype tandem-ing STOL aircraft. A big departure from the Varieze’s and LongEZs he’d designed that were fast, cruising airplanes. It’s unusual configurations and features turns heads, but only for one week a year. The Grizzly was donated to the EAA Museum in 1997. AirVenture 2026, here we come!
A week from today Rutan Aircraft Flying Experience will be arriving at AirVenture 2026. This is going to be a great year because since last years Oshkosh, it has been a fantastic year. Two of the worlds only versions of iconic Rutan designs will be returning, our VariViggen and the Solitaire. I say these are the only ones left flying not to brag, but to be proud that we’ve been able to keep an example of these flying and each year I hope to be proven wrong. How cool would it
