2017 starts with another LongEZ donated to the Rutan Aircraft Flying Experience! Donated to us by its builder Jim Madsen from the Detroit area, it hadn't flown in several years. With help of Harry Manvel and his team, it was disassembled and temporarily stored in Harry's hangar. Later it was moved and stored at Jet Guys in Covington,Tenn. RAFE President Ryszard Zadow spent last week at EZJets and with the help of Robert Harris and Mike Yancey the Madsen LongEZ received a very good condition inspection and is running again!
Weather prevented its first flight as an RAFE aircraft but as soon as it warms up it will fly! This aircraft is a great example of an early ‘80s LongEZ, very stock with an O-235 and we’re honored to be its caretaker. Thank you Jim Madsen!
