Rutan Aircraft Flying Experience would like to congratulate Francois George Choquette as RAFE”s 2023 Volunteer of the Year.
George started building a LongEZ while in college in Canada over thirty years ago. After flying it for 10 years his career path took him to Europe so George sold his beloved LongEZ. Two years ago while visiting AirVenture 2022, George stopped by the VariViggen “Lady VI” and discovered RAFE. He lives in Houston now and his office is only 10 minutes from Ellington airport and the RAFE Canard Base there. Drawn back to his love of Rutan designs, he started volunteering at the EFD hangar. Now we don’t know what we’d do without him!
George’s experience as a LongEZ builder and Pilot is a tremendous asset to RAFE and the EFD Canard Base. He’s also a natural leader and a real people magnet. His enthusiasm and energy for Rutan designs and RAFE is contagious. A weekend rarely goes by without George bringing new people to the hangar. If it wasn't for George we would not have the volunteers we have at EFD today.
With his dedication to helping others learn about Rutan designs and support of RAFE, we would also like to congratulate George on becoming the RAFE Ellington Space Port Canard Base Leader!
George is an active part of RAFE and we are proud to have him on our team. Please join us in recognizing Georges as a model volunteer and leader of the Rutan Aircraft Flying Experience.
Sincerely,
Ryszard Zadow
